From former vice president and New York Times bestselling author Al Gore, The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change is an assessment of critical, key issues that will have profound impacts on our world in the decades to come.

Using his unique insights on climate change and global policy, Gore identifies the emerging forces that are reshaping our world: the impact of increasing globalization, the way digital communications have linked the way billions of people think, shifting seats of political, economic and military power; depletion of the planet's natural resources, and revolutions in biotechnology and life sciences.

In The Future, Gore again refuses to shy away from emerging truths--no matter how "inconvenient" they may seem -- and lays out a map of the world on the horizon.

In a program presented by the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and A Cappella Books, Gore

discusses his new book on Friday, February 1 at 7 p.m. at the Carter Center, 441 Freedom Parkway, Atlanta. Following his talk, Gore will answer questions from the audience  Tickets for the event are $30 a piece and come with a signed first edition of the book. Tickets are available online at acappellabooks.com and at A Cappella Books in Inman Park, 208 Haralson Ave NE at the corner of Dekalb Ave. Tickets are not available by phone.

Signed copies of The Future will also be on sale at the Carter Center. There will not be a signing following the event.

Praise for The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change:

"This is a great book. From political policy and economics to science and the most thorny ethical issues, Al Gore has stated the human condition and the issues we face forthrightly, fearlessly, and in easily understood language-and has said what must be done. I asked myself halfway through who else could have written a book of this magnitude. The only answer I could imagine was Jefferson."
