In their new book, COMMON GROUND: How to Stop the Partisan War That is Destroying America, they examine today’s corrosive political climate, how the partisan war began, how it has severely undermined our political system, and why America’s future depends upon a return to bipartisanship and consensus politics. Thomas, a widely syndicated columnist, and Beckel, one of Washington’s leading political analysts and consultants, offer a roadmap describing how politicians on both sides of the aisle can work together to restore civility to our government processes.

Thomas, a conservative, writes a twice weekly syndicated column that appears in more than 600 newspapers across the country, and he is a frequent panelist on the “Fox News Watch” program.

Beckel, a liberal, is one of Washington’s leading political analysts and a long-time political consultant. A regular guest on a variety of news programs, from Crossfire to Larry King Live, Beckel was assistant secretary of state under the Carter Administration and was Walter Mondale’s campaign manager during the 1984 presidential election.
