Location:
SCADshow

In 2004, Grace Bonney founded Design*Sponge, a daily website dedicated to the creative community. Since then, it has grown to reach 2 million readers per day, and Grace’s influence has only has soared to new heights, including, in 2011, the publication of her first bestselling book, Design*Sponge at Home. Now, Grace debuts her widely-anticipated second book, In the Company of Women, which profiles over 100 entrepreneurial women of all ages, races, backgrounds, and industries. In these pages, these inspirational and creative women offer the keys to success, highlight the importance of everyday rituals, and dispense advice for the next generation of women entrepreneurs and makers. Rounding out the book are hundreds of lush, original photographs of these women movers and shakers in their work spaces.

On Thursday, October 13, at 7 PM, Grace Bonney will speak in conversation with Rebecca Wood, Cheryl Day, LaRonda Sutton and Ashley Woodson Bailey at SCADshow.

About the Panelists:

Rebecca Wood is the artist and founder behind r.wood studio in Athens, Georgia, which has grown into one of the largest pottery studios in America where each piece is still entirely made and painted by hand.

Cheryl Day is the co-founder of Back in the Day Bakery in Savannah Georgia, along with her husband Griff. Cheryl is the co-author of two best selling books, The Back in the Day Cookbook and Back in the Day Bakery: Made with Love.

LaRonda Sutton is an entertainment industry veteran with more than two decades experience in all aspects of film, television, music, and new digital media. She is the Owner/Principal of Film City, LLC.,  and a member of Georgia Governor Nathan Deal’s Film, Television, Music, and Digital Entertainment Advisory Board.

Ashley Woodson Bailey. After a harrowing car accident left this high-profile florist bed-ridden with a broken back and shattered spirit, Ashley Woodson Bailey channeled her love of flowers into a healing, and wildly successful new venture as a floral photographer. Since 2012, Ashley’s eponymous brand has expanded from her signature dark “florography” fine art prints, to include wallpaper, limited edition clothing collaborations, home goods and a soon-to-be-launched fabric collection. As an artist, Ashley is defined fully and completely by the flower. Her inaugural collection “Dark” is inspired by the transition of the flower from a lovely blossom to a dying stem and the deep desire to preserve the metamorphosis as a frozen moment in time. Her works are biographical, deeply intimate and one-of-a-kind, and she is on a constant quest to capture these beloved creatures in order to share their beauty with the world. She creates her “forever flowers” in Marietta, Georgia where she resides with her husband, Brad, children Byrdie, Woodson and Lane, and her furry sidekicks, George and Rose.
