Overall bright, sound binding. Classic study of improvisation by the late, unique guitar master, Derek Bailey (1930 -- 2005) into the style of playing he devoted his professional life. In 1980 when he published this book -- soon to become for many the Bible of improvisational music -- Bailey's professional career was little more than a decade old. He would go on to give the next 25 years of his life to the music. Late in his career as his dexterity became limited by motor neuron disease he adapted his style so he could continue to play. The disease would eventually take his life, but he maintained a sense of humor until the end. His last record before he passed was called Carpal Tunnel (Tzadik Records 2005)
