First/first (U.S.) in dustjacket darkened at spine & margins. Mildly edgeworn. Quarter bound: black textured, faux-cloth paper covered spine with gold lettering. Grey spots along spine that is worn at bottom & top edges. Salmon colored paper covered boards worn at edges. Bottom corner bruised & worn through at one 1/8th-inch spot. Top, front board edge is dented near middle. Textblock that was once topstained of a color lost to the abuses of time, now is a muddy grey. Doubtful that was the original intent. Deckled fore-edge is mildly foxed. A few light brown stained spots on bottom edge. Binding is sound. There is a Liberty Book Club News (November 1, 1956) notice folded and laid in advert for A Discord of Trumpets available to LBC members at reduced rate of $2.25 reduced from $3.95. (Note: this is a true American 1st edition, not a book club edition).
