The Hogarth Press, 1944. First Edition. Cloth. Used - Very Good / Fair. Item #239442
ISBN: 281BYO1015181

First U.K. edition in dustjacket heavily chipped, darkened, split along front spine fold and price-clipped bottom of front flap. Much darkened and fragile internal pages. End pages deeply tanned/foxed especially at gutters. Textblock edges heavily darkened/dust stained dark brown/dark grey. Several small brown splotches on fore-edge., Red cloth boards with gold lettering on spine & front panel. Board edges worn, mostly at bottom but some wear top edge and one sound bump to front board top edge. Board corners remain sharp & unbruised. Binding is sound. Gold lettering is likewise surprisingly bright & clear & unfaded. Internal text is without markings. No underlining. Clear & easily readable throughout. This is an excellent anthology including contributions by Edith Sitwell, Philip Toynbee, Stephen Spender, Demetrios Capetanakis, Denton Welch, Peter Yates, Viktor Fischl (aka Avigdor Dagan), Hamish Henderson and more.
