1935, reprint of 1925 first edition in brown cloth covered boards with gold lettering along spine. Some lean to spine. Ten illustrated plates (including frontispiece) by Jessie Willcox Smith of various young Dickens characters. Cover has Smith illustrations of 'Tiny Tim and Bob Cratchit on Christmas Day' within 3-color border (by Euphame Mallison). Mallison also responsible for title page decoration. Illustration of The Old Curiosity Shop on end pages front and rear, somewhat marred by foxing/darkening. Darkened textblock edges especially top edge. Half-inch by half-inch chip for edge of half title page. Small puncture tear to front free end page. Foxing/spotting (mostly marginal) scattered lightly through text. 260 pages including final page list of other Scribner Illustrated Classics for Younger Readers on final page of text.
