The History of South-Carolina from its first settlement in 1670, to the year 1808 two volumes, rebound)

David Longworth, for the author, 1809. First Edition. Hardcover. Used - Good / No Jacket. Item #256056
ISBN: B000MX4GJQ

Quarter bound: black leather spine with gold lettering and black corners. Gilt border lines. Burgundy cloth covered bords fill up five sided space between front and rear. Marbled end pages. The original rough fore-edged first edition actual book has survived the 212 years of its existence rather well. The pages are tanned. Unfortunate pencilled side notes are scattered here and there. All that remains of the title page of volume two is a loose fragement with enough of the text for readers to recognize it for what it is. Fortunately the title page of volume one is all present and accounted for, and bound in its rightful place at the beginning. Also missing, if a description I found on line is accuate: IV (four) pages of introductory material at the beginning of Vol.II, and two foled maps at the end of same said Volume Two. On the positive side the XII (twelve) page preface to Volume one is here. Volume one is 478 pages. Volume two is 608 pages.
