Octavo in dustjacket with darkened spine and margins. Mild edgewear. Flap is not clipped. DJ verso tanned/darkened. Rough-hewn half inch tear to jacket top of front fold. Boards covered by cedar colored brown with silver lettering on spine and front panel. Dust stained textblock edges. Dinged roughly size/shape of thumb nail clipping at bottom textblock edge midway. Square, sharp board corners. Tightly bound. Originally issued, 1924, by Harcourt, Brace. Port of New York, an influential study of American modernism shortly after the decline of its peak, brought on by the 'war to end war', WWI 1914–1918. Sadly, war did not end not, and arguably nor has moderism, which carries on influencing everything that follows. All of which made this book worth reissuing in 1961 by University of Illinois Press, [311 pages]
