Join our partner, the Georgia Center for the Book for an evening with Laura Morelli, author of "The Night Portrait," in conversation with Robert Edsel of The Monuments Men Foundation.
Tickets are $25, and include a copy of the "The Night Portrait." Copies of Robet Edsel's "The Monuments Men" are available via the add-on purchase option at check-out.

Books may be delivered to your door, Monday - Saturday to the in-town Atlanta neighborhoods listed in our website banner. Delivery times vary depending on zip code.

About the Book
"The Night Portrait" is an exciting, dual-timeline historical novel about the creation of one of Leonardo da Vinci's most famous paintings, Portrait of a Lady with an Ermine, and the woman who fought to save it from Nazi destruction during World War II. Milan, 1492: When a 16-year old beauty becomes the mistress of the Duke of Milan, she must fight for her place in the palace—and against those who want her out. Soon, she finds herself sitting before Leonardo da Vinci, who wants to ensure his own place in the ducal palace by painting his most ambitious portrait to date. Munich, World War II: After a modest conservator unwittingly places a priceless Italian Renaissance portrait into the hands of a high-ranking Nazi leader, she risks her life to recover it, working with an American soldier, part of the famed Monuments Men team, to get it back.
About the Authors
Laura Morelli holds a Ph.D. in art history from Yale University and has taught at the college level in the U.S. and in Italy. She is a TedEd educator and a columnist for National Geographic Traveler and Italy Magazine. Her debut novel, The Gondala Maker, earned a starred review in Publishers Weekly as well as IPPY and Benjamin Franklin Awards. She divides her time between Georgia and North Carolina.
Robert Edsel is recognized today as one of the world’s foremost advocates for art preservation. While living in Florence, he developed a great passion for art and architecture and became curious as to how so many of the monuments and great works of art survived the thefts and devastation of World War II. What began as a question evolved into an impassioned journey to unravel the secrets and heroics of the Monuments Men and Women, and share their remarkable stories with a global audience. His second book, "The Monuments Men," has been translated into more than thirty languages.
