Our Partners
The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum
Just about mile from our store, The Carter Library and Carter Center have for many years been the venues where we have presented the most important topical, historical and literary authors to Atlanta audiences, including Pat Conroy, Salman Rushdie, Harry Belaftonte, Al Franken, Sarah Vowell, Tom Brokaw, Candice Millard, Jon Meacham and Krista Tippett
SCADshow
SCADshow is a beautifully renovated theatre in Midtown Atlanta, home to many SCAD Atlanta events as well as cultural and literary events around town. While our partnership with SCADshow began as recently as 2015, together we've already brought many distinguished authors to Atlanta to full houses, including Stephen Pinker, Dave Barry, Erik Larson, Chuck Palahniuk, Nick Offerman, Jenny Lawson, Faith Salie, and more.
Manuel's Tavern
This Atlanta institution is a famous hotspot for writers and political debate, making it a natural for A Cappella book signings. Howard Dean, the late, great Paul Hemphill, and Ben "Cooter" Jones are just a few of the notables whose books we've presented there.
Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA)
In 2012, A Cappella became the official bookseller of the Book Festival of the MJCCA in Dunwoody, a fifteen-day literary and arts extravaganza, now in its 24th year. Each November, the Book Festival of the MJCCA hosts a who’s who list of bestselling and award-winning authors, speakers, and celebrities. Past guests have included Pat Conroy, Michael Chabon, Annie Leibovitz, Larry King, Senator Joseph Lieberman, Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat, Rabbi Harold Kushner, Emily Giffin, James Patterson, and R.L. Stine – just to name a few! The Book Festival of the MJCCA also hosts notable author events throughout the year.
The Georgia Center for the Book
A Cappella has enjoyed a decade-long relationship with this organization, housed in the Decatur Library, and dedicated to promoting books. Together we have hosted numerous author readings and signings, including Khaled Hosseini (twice), James McBride, Gwen Ifill, David Maraniss, Jan Karon, and many wonderful others.
The Ballroom Lounge
The historic bar beneath The Highland Inn has been home to many of our most memorable book parties with, among others, Nick Hornby, Karen Abbott, Irvine Welsh, Kevin Young, and Kristin Hersh.
Poetry at Tech
A Cappella is proud to be the long-time official bookseller for Poetry at Tech, which brings the finest names in poetry to Atlanta from within Georgia and all over the United States.
Variety Playhouse
A Cappella's collaboration with the Variety Playhouse--a converted movie theatre-turned concert venue and nightclub--is a great opportunity for us to bring celebrity authors to big Atlanta audiences. Located in Little Five Points, the Variety Playhouse is a short walk from A Cappella and together we've featured Al Franken--our first huge event--Elvis Costello, Patti Smith, Alton Brown, Amanda Palmer and many others.
SCAD - Ivy Hall
SCAD's Ivy Hall Writers Series hosts a series of lectures and book signings with A Cappella Books both at the gorgeous mansion that houses the school's writing program, Ivy Hall, and at their main campus on Peachtree. If you haven't attended one of these programs, you've missed Bret Easton Ellis, William Gibson, Alexandra Styron, Andy Cohen and many others.
Horizon Theatre
Horizon Theatre is a professional theatre company, located in Little Five Points, known for bringing contemporary plays and original work to Atlanta audiences since 1983. Our collaboration with Horizon allows us to bring authors in for intimate staged readings in an historic arts district. Our most recent event at the Horizon was with New York Times bestselling author Meg Wolitzer.
Murphy's in Virginia Highland
Murphy's in Virginia Highland is a landmark, top-tier restaurant owned and operated by Tom Murphy for over 30 years. A Cappella Books and Murphy's collaborate to host author lunches and dinners, where Atlantans can sit and chat with authors, receive a signed book, and eat a 3 course meal prepared by the exemplary Murphy's chefs.
Restaurant Eugene
One of Atlanta's most celebrated restaurants and its chef/owner Linton Hopkins, winner of multiple James Beard Awards, host our most distinctive series of author readings, featuring fantastic food, wine and literature. Featured authors from our partnership with Restaurant Eugene include Gabrielle Hamilton, Marcus Samuelsson, and Mark Kurlansky. In 2015 Chef Hopkins opened up the Café at Linton's in the Garden, centered in the beautiful Atlanta Botanical Garden in Midtown Atlanta. The Café is now A Cappella's primary venue for literary events with Restaurant Eugene, our inaugural event kicking off with chef and food writer Ruth Reichl.
