Roger and James Deakins - Reflections: On Cinematography In-store Booksigning

A Cappella Books is honored to welcome Oscar-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins and his wife and collaborator James Deakins for a special in-store book signing event on Tuesday, March 17 from 2-4 PM in honor of his book, "Reflections: On Cinematography."
Event Guidelines (Know Before You Go)
-Admission to the signing and photo line requires the purchase of a copy of Roger Deakins's photography book, "Reflections," from A Cappella Books via the preorder link below or at the event. Please plan to be in line by 2 PM.
-To ensure that the signing line moves quickly, we ask that purchasers have no more than one other person with them in line.
-In addition to your copy of "Reflections," a limit of ONE non-book item, such as film posters, DVDs, and other memorabilia will be permitted to bring to Mr. Deakins for his signature.
-Photos will be allowed from the line only; we will have booksellers on hand to take your picture with Mr. Deakins at the signing table.
PLEASE NOTE: Street parking in Inman Park is extremely limited. We recommend using Uber, Lyft or taking MARTA. A Cappella Books is a short walk from the Inman Park MARTA Station and Little 5 Points.
If you cannot attend, we will keep your signed copy of "Reflections" at the counter for pick-up, or you may contact us to have it shipped.

About Roger Deakins
Sir Roger A. Deakins is widely regarded as the greatest cinematographer of all time. Roger has been nominated for 16 Academy Awards, winning twice for “Blade Runner 2049” and “1917.” He has also been nominated 11 times for the BAFTA award, winning on five occasions. Roger has been awarded Lifetime Achievement Awards from the American Society of Cinematographers, the British Society of Cinematographers, and the National Board of Review. He is also the sole cinematographer to have been honored with a CBE, in 2013, and a knighthood, in 2021. Roger splits his time between England and California, with his wife and longtime collaborator, James. You can follow them @team.deakins.
About James Deakins
James Ellis Deakins is the creative work partner of Roger Deakins. Born on the east coast of the United States, she double majored in college in Latin and Greek, doing a graduate course in Latin as an undergraduate. Once out of school, she began her film work in New York City as a film lab technician at DuArt Film Laboratories and then a script supervisor in production.
After moving to Los Angeles, she met Roger Deakins on a film set and their creative collaboration began. Eventually relinquishing the role of script supervisor to more fully enter into their collaborative partnership, she and Roger developed their unique working style which has continued to evolve as they enter into new enterprises including a podcast (“Team Deakins”), a website and a book of still photography. James’ natural affinity with technology proved essential when productions moved from the use of film capture to digital. Team Deakins create their approach and plan to a film together. James oversees the many details that need to be coordinated which allows Roger to focus on capturing the visual. Working together, James and Roger have strived to create memorable images as well as share their knowledge with others.
