When Room was published in 2010, it wasn't long before the book became an international bestseller, a finalist for numerous literary prizes, and the inspiration for what would become an Academy Award-nominated movie. Now, Room's author Emma Donoghue offers up her latest masterpiece, The Wonder, in which an English nurse is brought to a small Irish village to observe what appears to be a miracle--a girl surviving with no food, only "manna from heaven." The nurse soon finds herself fighting to save the child's life, and, with all the propulsive tension that made Room a huge bestseller, The Wonder takes readers on a powerful psychological thrill-ride, where strangers have the power to transform each others' lives and love struggles to triumph over evil.
On Thursday, October 6, at 7PM, Emma Donoghue will speak in conversation with Atlanta's own New York Times bestselling author Joshilyn Jackson at SCADshow.
This is a ticketed event. Tickets are free with the purchase of a book ($29), plus an additional $10 if individuals would like to bring a guest.
